RE: summer storage

Here in El Centro, most folks use milk jugs and fill with water, maybe 4-6 and place then throughout the RV. We have a 31' 5th and I have built wooden boxes to fit over the roof vents. I also stuff the couch pillows up in the vent holes and use a piece of string diagonally access to keep them from falling out (earthquakes you know!)
I also spray some UV stuff on the awning (the exposed area only after its rolled up) and the spare tire cover. I also make sure the covers are on the tires securely with a bungee cord (lots of wind here). Its also recommenced by some that you leave about 2" of water in each tank and pour some vegetable oil in the toilet to keep the seals flexible. Some folks say that you need some in each drain, but I'm not sure what that does, maybe keeps those seals secure as well.
I also put window covers on each exposed window, I say that because I have 2 windows on each end of the slider that do not cover as I pull in the slider. The covering is a foil sandwich with a foam of some king in between. You can get it at most hardware stores in this area. Comes in a big roll and you figure our how may SQFT you need and they cut off that amount off the roll. There is aluminum tape you get to tape it to the window frames only! Most tape as you know will rip the wall coving off or poor quality will not stay on. I tried duct tape one year and yes what a mess to clean up when we came back in the fall. It comes in 2' and 4' widths.
I also clean, turn off and prop open the door of the fridge and freezer and turn off the propane tanks.
This is what I have done over the years for my trailer and it seams to work well, but it appears that other may have done far less and have had success.
Course after doing all this there us usually lots of dust to clean when you come back, however I'm not shoveling 4' of snow either.
